MFS - Meet the Governors

The structure and remit of the governing body:

We pride ourselves on having a supportive, loyal, inclusive and rights respecting governing body who both work alongside and challenge the school, helping to ensure that the best outcomes for all children are achieved.

We welcome our governors within our school and want to ensure that they are members of our community who are valued by the children and the parents for the contribution that they make.

Our governing body is comprised of staff, parents and members from the wider community. We aim to develop a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion in which all those connected to our school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life. Within our governing body, our governance roles are composed of approximately 90% White British and 10% non-White British.

The governors recognise and understand their responsibility for safeguarding within the school and safeguarding is an agenda item for each committee meeting.

There are three main committees which constitute our governors:

Full Board: This committee meets half termly and involves all of the governors. During full board meetings, minutes are reported from the two sub committees, enabling governors to maintain an overview of the school.
Resources: The Resources Committee meet half termly. They are responsible for reviewing the school resources, including personnel and premises. Through rigorous monitoring of the school budget, they are responsible for holding the school to account in terms of ensuring the best value for money.
Curriculum: Using internal and external data, including Raise on Line, this committee evaluates the achievement of pupils as a whole and of pupils within a particular category. For our school, we analyse in particular the progress and attainment of children entitled to pupil premium funding, children with SEND and children who are more able. Additionally, our vulnerable children, who form a high % of our school role are tracked to ensure that, where possible, barriers are removed, enabling them to achieve in line with their peers. The curriculum committee monitors the school curriculum to ensure that the children receive a balanced and broad curriculum which responds to their needs and fulfils statutory requirements. Again, this curriculum meets half termly.
